Baseball wins season opener against Purdue 17-6
Western Carolina wins seventh straight season opener and tenth in to begin 2015 season at Childress Field/Hennon Stadium.
2015 (Junior): One of four Catamounts to start all 51 games on the season including 47 in right field and four in centerfield ... Hit .295 with 57 hits including 10 doubles, a triple and six home runs coming in 193 at bats ... Finished with 32 RBI ... Finished tied for third with 19 multiple-hit games and had five multi-RBI outings ... Had a career-best six-game hitting streak from April 17 through 24, batting 12-for-25 (.480) with five multi-hit games with three extra base hits ... Tallied a career-high four hits (4-for-5) against UNC Asheville (May 2) ... Drove in a career-best seven in a 2-for-4, two home run performance at Samford (May 10) including belting his first career grand slam homer ... Named to the 2014-15 SoCon Academic Honor Roll; Summer League: Played for the SLO Blues of the California Collegiate League ... Claimed team player of the game honors after helping SLO to a 5-3 win with a three-RBI triple on July 12 ... Played in 17 games, batting .193 (11-for-57) with two home runs and 10 runs scored ... Also had five RBI.
Prior to Western Carolina: Played at Cypress College in Cypress, Calif., for head coach Scott Pickler before transferring to WCU ... Was a All-Orange Empire Conference ... As a sophomore, played in 35 games with a .304 batting average, collecting 42 hits including 11 doubles, three triples and four home runs ... Drove in 24 runs while scoring 22 times ... Added three stolen bases; At Ellensburg HS: Was a two-sport standout, playing football and baseball ...
